Prof.dr. Harry Kunneman

Harry Kunneman studeerde in 1974 af in de sociologie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (cum laude) en promoveerde aan deze universiteit in 1986 in de wijsbegeerte op het boek De Waarheidstrechter (cum laude). Van 1974 - 1989 was hij als universitair docent sociale filosofie verbonden aan de Faculteit Wijsbegeerte van de UvA, waar hij zich vooral bezighield met kritische theorie, i.h.b. het denken van Jürgen Habermas. In 1990 werd hij hoogleraar aan de Universiteit voor Humanistiek waar hij de leerstoel Sociale en politieke theorie bekleedt. Hij publiceerde een tiental boeken en bundels en vele artikelen op het gebied van de sociale theorie en de filosofie van de menswetenschappen. i.h.b. het postmoderne denken. Zijn huidige onderzoek is vooral gericht op vragen rond postmoderne moraliteit, kritische menswetenschap en de vernieuwing van het hedendaagse humanisme. Sinds 2001 is hij voorzitter van de Humanistische Alliantie. Kunneman was 2000-2004 rector van de universiteit.

Binnen het onderwijsprogramma coördineert hij het blok Zingeving, raadswerk en postmoderniteit in het 2e studiejaar en verzorgt hij modules in de doctoraalfase op het gebied van de sociale theorie,de grondslagen van de humanistiek en de wetenschapstheorie.
